Carlos Alcaraz and Ben Shelton lit up Arthur Ashe Stadium until the early hours of Wednesday morning at the US Open, where the pair’s quarter-final epic came to a conclusion at 3:33 a.m. local time (EDT).
That set a new record for the latest finish in the history of the hard-court major in New York, eclipsing the previous record which also involved Alcaraz: In 2022, the Spaniard downed his great Lexus ATP Head2Head rival Jannik Sinner in a match that ended at 2:50 a.m.
