The USTA Foundation's Frances Tiafoe Fund has surpassed $1 million in total funds raised since its launch in 2023, the organisation announced Thursday.
Tiafoe marked the milestone Thursday by hosting a special youth tennis clinic at the Junior Tennis Champions Center (JTCC) in his hometown of College Park, Maryland.
"Reaching this milestone means so much because it's never been about the number. It's about the people behind it," Tiafoe said. "Every young person we've been able to support, every family we've connected with, and every community we've invested in is what makes this all worth it.
"I’ve always believed that everyone deserves the chance to believe what’s possible when someone is in their corner, and I'm grateful to everyone who's believed in this mission and helped us get here. It’s only the beginning."
The American's own tennis journey began at JTCC when he was four years old. Tiafoe’s father, who immigrated to the United States from Sierra Leone in 1996, worked as the facility's head of maintenance, giving Tiafoe early access to the sport through one of the USTA Foundation's programs.
Launched in 2023, the Frances Tiafoe Fund is Tiafoe's way of giving back to the programs that helped shape his career while inspiring the next generation through tennis, education and mentorship. The fund serves as a key pillar of support for the USTA Foundation and its National Junior Tennis and Learning (NJTL) network, which includes more than 270 community organisations nationwide serving young people from under-resourced communities.
Through 2026, the USTA Foundation’s Frances Tiafoe Fund expects to deploy more than $500,000 to college scholarships, individual player grants and community programme grants.
Tiafoe won the Arthur Ashe Humanitarian Award in 2020 and wrote a letter to Ashe after receiving the award.
