Former Rolex Monte-Carlo Masters champion Stan Wawrinka and Frenchman Gael Monfils are among those who have been awarded a wild card for the ATP Masters 1000 event, the tournament announced Thursday.
The 39-year-old Wawrinka defeated Roger Federer to lift the trophy in The Principality in 2014 and is set to make his 14th appearance at the clay-court event next week.
Monfils will compete in Monte-Carlo for the first time since 2016, when he lost in the final to record 11-time champion Rafael Nadal. Italian Matteo Berrettini will also continue his comeback at the event.
Berrettini returned to action last month at the ATP Challenger Tour event in Phoenix, where he advanced to the title match. He is currently in action in Marrakech, where he has reached the quarter-finals.
Monegasque Valentin Vacherot will make his second appearance at his home event after receiving a wild card. The 25-year-old, who has won three ATP Challenger Tour titles this season, lost in the first round in 2023.
The Rolex Monte-Carlo Masters will be held from 7-14 April, with Andrey Rublev the defending champion.
