It was a crisp autumn afternoon in late October. The year was 1999. An 18-year-old Roger Federer was competing in a final, the first of his fledgling career.

The ATP Challenger Tour is comprised of more than 180 tournaments, with an 11-month season extending from January to November. In 2022, players competed in a total of 38 countries and territories across six continents. From the cozy confines of a suburban grass-court venue in Surbiton, England, to a 10,000-person capacity stadium in Seoul, South Korea, and an emerging market in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, players compete across the globe, interacting with various cultures.

The ATP Challenger Tour visits some of the most scenic locales in the world, with beachfront tournaments in Noumea, New Caledonia and Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, the picturesque mountain towns of Como, Italy and Ilkley, England, and bustling coastal cities of Vancouver, Canada and Buenos Aires, Argentina. And the circuit also travels to historic locations, including a 130-year-old club in Heilbronn, Germany and 125-year-old facility in Bordeaux, France.
