The World Tennis Conference has cemented itself as a premier event in the global tennis coaching community, with a successful fifth edition coming to a close this past Sunday.
WTC5 showcased 74 distinguished speakers from diverse backgrounds, including renowned coaches, experts and scientists who shared their insights. Among the notable coaches who presented were Toni Nadal, Gilles Cervara, Louis Cayer, Liam Smith and Rick Macci.
The four-day virtual event is organised by the Segal Institute in collaboration with the Global Professional Tennis Coach Association (GPTCA) and supported by the ATP.
"World Tennis Conference is an amazing initiative," said Robert Lindstedt, former No. 3 in the PIF ATP Doubles Rankings. "I fully believe that as a coach, just like a player, you are never fully learned and there is always room for more knowledge. Learning from other coaches at the WTC5 is an amazing opportunity. Improvement never ends. The better the coaches are, the better the players become."
Attendees also benefitted from 18 live panel discussions. Throughout the conference, a wide range of topics were covered: the high-performance pathway, the ATP & WTA circuits, mental and emotional training, biomechanics, tactical concepts, physical development, analytics, mental health, physical health, recovery and much more.
"I believe to have the World Tennis Conference 5 is something remarkable," said Dominik Hrbaty, former No. 12 in the PIF ATP Rankings. "When I started tennis in the eighties and nineties, we didn’t have internet, we didn't have the possibilities. With internet now, we can learn in hours what it takes weeks or months before to get the information from one side of the world to the other in seconds.
"This make tennis enjoyable because you can test your knowledge and your skills learning from this information. And the progress for tennis and for the future is something that we should use it in our advantage."
World Tennis Conference club members can watch the entire conference for one year, while attendees can watch all presentations until 17 May. ATP Coach members have free access to the conference.
Alberto Castellani, ATP coach and GPTCA President added: "I’m very proud about the World Tennis Conference, because we are doing it together with Segal Institute, from my friend Fernando Segal, and with the collaboration and support of the ATP. More than 70 coaches, experts, and scientists every year are participating as main speakers, many of them are the best in the world. So I wish this association to continue like this and to grow every year better and better.”
