Carlos Alcaraz has laid down his plans for the 2023 grass-court season after confirming that he will make his debut at the Cinch Championships in London in June.
The 19-year-old Spaniard will play a more extensive swing on grass this year, having only competed at Wimbledon in 2022. Alcaraz reached the fourth round in his second appearance at The Championships last season, defeating Jan-Lennard Struff, Tallon Griekspoor and Oscar Otte.
“It’s an honour to come to the LTA’s cinch Championships this year, to a venue with so much history, great champions and everyone knows the quality of the grass courts is among the best in the world,” Alcaraz said.
Alcaraz, who holds a 4-2 career record on grass, will be joined at the ATP 500 event by defending champion Matteo Berrettini and Americans Taylor Fritz and Frances Tiafoe.
The Italian Berrettini defeated Filip Krajinovic in last year’s final to capture his second title at The Queen’s Club. He also triumphed in 2021, when he defeated Briton Cameron Norrie. Fritz will make his second appearance, with Tiafoe competing for the fifth time in London.
The grass-court tournament will be held from 19-25 June.
