Auger-Aliassime, Medvedev, Lehecka split with coaches

Felix Auger-Aliassime, Daniil Medvedev and Jiri Lehecka have split with their coaches, the players announced on social media.

Auger-Aliassime has ended his long-standing partnership with former pro Frederic Fontang after 10 years. The Canadian announced the split on Friday, bringing to a close a partnership that began in 2017. During his time with Fontang, Auger-Aliassime rose to a career-high No. 4 in the PIF ATP Rankings, won nine tour-level titles and most recently reached the Wimbledon quarter-finals.

"After nearly ten years of working together, it has recently been decided that Wimbledon would be my last tournament with Frederic by my side as my coach," Auger-Aliassime posted on Instagram. "Today, I want to express my deepest respect, gratitude, and admiration for his dedication and the passion he brought every single day to helping me achieve my goals.

"Since I was 16 years old, he has guided my development and helped me experience incredible moments through this sport. He has also been by my side during the toughest moments of my career."

Medvedev has also parted ways with one of his coaches, Thomas Johansson, after nearly a year together. The former No. 1 player in the PIF ATP Rankings added Johansson and Rohan Goetzke to his team in September 2025. With Johansson, Medvedev captured titles in Almaty, Brisbane and Dubai and also reached the final at Indian Wells and the semi-finals in Rome.

Johansson shared the news on his Instagram story Saturday: "After almost one year working together, Daniil and I have decided to part ways," he wrote. "I want to thank Daniil for his trust and his hard work during this time and I wish him and his team all the best for the future."

"Thank you @tompatennis for the great work," Medvedev wrote on Instagram Stories. "It's been a pleasure working with you and I appreciate all you have done."

Lehecka also confirmed the end of his partnership with coach Michal Navratil after eight years. The Czech, who reached his first ATP Masters 1000 final in Miami earlier this year, announced the decision in an Instagram post Friday, thanking Navratil for his guidance throughout their successful partnership.

"When I look back, I see eight years filled with hard work, sacrifices, victories, and defeats. Every single one of them had its purpose," Lehecka posted. "Thank you, Michal, for being such an important part of this journey. For your support, honesty, toughness, and for believing in me, especially during the moments when things weren’t easy.

"Our journey together ends here. I’m truly grateful for everything we’ve built together. At the same time, I know that the past is only the foundation for what’s still to come. With humility, great motivation, and unwavering determination, I’m looking forward to the next chapter. The best may still be ahead of us. Thank you. 🙏"
