Simone Bolelli and Andrea Vavassori continued their perfect start to the 2025 season Friday, when they moved into the third round at the Australian Open

The third-seeded Italian duo delivered a clutch performance to edge past Luciano Darderi and Diego Hidalgo 7-6(3), 7-6(4). Bolelli and Vavassori, who triumphed at the Adelaide International last month, are aiming to improve on last year's runner-up finish in Melbourne, where they fell to Rohan Bopanna and Matthew Ebden in the final.

It was plain sailing for top seeds Marcelo Arevalo and Mate Pavic, who eased past Damir Dzumhur and Petros Tsitsipas 6-2, 6-2. The duo, who clinched 2024 Year-End ATP No. 1 presented by PIF honours, won 86 per cent (31/36) of points behind its first deliveries, according to Infosys Stats.

It All Adds Up

The 2024 Nitto ATP Finals champions, Kevin Krawietz and Tim Puetz were forced to come from a set down to book their spot in the third round. The Germans prevailed 4-6, 6-1, 6-4 against Victor Cornea and Mariano Navone

Reigning Wimbledon champions Harri Heliovaara and Henry Patten, who are making their team debut at the Australian Open this year, also advanced. The sixth-seeded duo sunk home wild cards Marc Polmans and Matthew Christopher Romios 7-6(2), 6-3.
