Simone Bolelli and Andrea Vavassori continued their career-best season on Sunday afternoon at the Mubadala Citi DC Open, where they captured their fourth title of 2025.
The Italian top seeds defeated Hugo Nys and Edouard Roger-Vasselin 6-3, 6-4 in the championship match, adding a seventh trophy to their impressive partnership. The first Lexus ATP Head2Head clash between the two teams was suspended due to rain with Bolelli and Vavassori leading 2-0 in the second set, and they returned two hours later to finish the job.
“Thanks to my partner,” said the 39-year-old. Bolelli. “He’s an amazing player, we’re friends, and he’s adding years to my career… We’ve really enjoyed this week in Washington, we’ve played four matches with some great support. We try to do our best every week.”
Vavassori added: “Thanks to Simone. We’ve been together for two and a half years. It’s great to have a friend to travel with, prepare the work and play the matches. It’s amazing for me and we will keep going in Toronto next week.”
Bolelli and Vavassori, who won 87 per cent (33/38) of first-serve points, according to Infosys ATP Stats, joined Wimbledon champions Julian Cash and Lloyd Glasspool as the only team to claim four titles this year. The Italians are No. 5 in the PIF ATP Live Doubles Teams Rankings, having made their team debut at the Nitto ATP Finals last year.
