Argentine Facundo Diaz Acosta won his first ATP Tour title on Sunday at the IEB+ Argentina Open, where he thrilled his home fans by defeating Carlos Alcaraz-conqueror Nicolas Jarry in the final.

The 23-year-old became the fourth first-time champion of the season, joining Jiri Lehecka, Alejandro Tabilo and Luciano Darderi. ATPTour.com caught up with Diaz Acosta, who will climb to a career-high No. 59 in the Pepperstone ATP Rankings, about his memorable moment.

What does it mean to you to win your first ATP Tour title?
Very, very happy. I wasn't expecting this this week. I've been working very hard for this since I was a child, so winning here at home is so emotional. I'm very happy for that.

Could you take a moment to acknowledge some of the key figures in your life and career who have helped you to reach this milestone?
All my family. My team, I started with my team like 10, 12 years ago, so it's a long [time]. And my family as well, always helping me in every situation — in the bad times, in the good times. So I think my family and my team.

You have said you began playing tennis when you were three with your grandparents. What are the memories that stick with you from those early days in the sport?
I started playing tennis with my grandparents and also my parents. Amazing moments. My grandfather is not here anymore. My grandma was here today watching the match, so that was so emotional for me and so, so, so good.

What about Rafael Nadal as a person and player made him your idol growing up?
I grew up watching him every match, every Roland Garros. Hopefully he comes back to the Tour and I can play against him.

You have enjoyed a great rise over the past year. What has been the key?
I think my mental part was the key. I started being more consistent. My bad weeks weren't so bad like years before. So I think the mental part was the key.

My biggest passion is being with my friends, going out with my friends.

What other hobbies do you enjoy?
I like to watch football. River Plate.

This is a milestone moment in your career. How will you celebrate this victory?
Dinner with my team and my family. Nothing else because I have to travel to Rio tomorrow. Maybe after all the other tournaments!
