Novak Djokovic returns to the China Open in Beijing for the first time since 2015 this week. The 39-year-old is a record six-time champion at the ATP 500 event, lifting the trophy in 2009, 2010, 2012, 2013, 2014 and 2015.
The Serbian has not competed since his first-round defeat to Mariano Navone at the US Open last month, but will return to court on Wednesday when he takes on Portugal’s Nuno Borges, Not Before 7 p.m. CST/1 p.m. CEST/7 a.m. ET.
Djokovic holds a 1-0 Lexus ATP Head2Head series lead against Borges, having won their previous meeting en route to his 101st tour-level title in Athens last season. The former No. 1 player in the PIF ATP Rankings, who holds a 29-0 record in Beijing according to the Infosys ATP Win/Loss Index, spoke about his love for competing in China and the support he receives from his ‘NoleFam’ in this part of the world.
