Jannik Sinner won the Internazionali BNL D'Italia in Rome on Sunday to become only the second player, after Novak Djokovic in 2018, to clinch the Career Golden Masters. Shortly after the Italian's triumph, Djokovic shared a heartwarming message on social media, congratulating Sinner on his historic achievement.
"Congratulazioni Jannik! Impressionante," Djokovic wrote in his Instagram Story. "Welcome to the exclusive club, Jannik 😎," he added.
Djokovic, who won his first ATP Masters 1000 crown in Miami in 2007, completed the Career Golden Masters in 2018 when he triumphed at the Cincinnati Open. The Serbian became the first player in history to capture all nine Masters 1000 crowns
Sinner won his first title at the level in Toronto in 2023. The Italian started the 2026 season with five Masters 1000 titles to his name and has now swept all five this year, having also triumphed in Indian Wells, Miami, Monte-Carlo and Madrid.
Carlos Alcaraz, who won the Rome title in 2025 but missed this year's edition due to injury, also praised Sinner.
The Spaniard wrote on his Instagram Story: "Congratulations Jannik for completing the Golden Masters! You deserve it!"
With his victory in Rome, Sinner became the first Italian champion at the tournament since Adriano Panatta in 1976. By triumphing on home soil, Sinner also became just the second player, after Rafael Nadal in 2010, to sweep all three clay-court Masters 1000 titles in the same season.
