Fourth seeds Marcel Granollers and Horacio Zeballos rallied from match point down to keep their title hopes alive Wednesday at the Miami Open presented by Itau.
The Spanish-Argentine team escaped Lloyd Glasspool and Jean-Julien Rojer 7-6(4), 3-6, 12-10 after one hour, 44 minutes in which they trailed 8/9 in the Match Tie-break before winning four of the next five points. Granollers and Zeballos will next clash against top seeds Rohan Bopanna and Matthew Ebden in the semi-finals.
Finalists in Indian Wells, Granollers and Zeballos are seeking their sixth ATP Masters 1000 team title. A milestone moment came for Granollers earlier in Miami, where he captured his 500th tour-level win in the second round.
In the bottom half of the draw, Ivan Dodig and Austin Krajicek overcame Marcelo Melo and Edouard Roger-Vasselin 7-6(1), 7-6(4) after winning 84 per cent of their first-serve points, according to Infosys ATP Stats. The second seeds, who lifted five trophies together last season, are aiming for their first title of 2024. They will next meet seventh seeds Kevin Krawietz and Tim Puetz in the last four.
