Hubert Hurkacz underwent arthroscopic surgery on his right knee, the 28-year-old shared on social media Wednesday.

“Over the past few weeks, I’ve been dealing with knee issues, such as pain, fluid build-up and other problems that made it hard to train and compete,” Hurkacz wrote. “After exploring different options, we decided that having an arthroscopy this past Monday was the best solution.

“During the procedure, the overgrown synovial membrane causing the inflammation, pain and related issues were removed. A huge thank you to Dr. Bartlomiej Kacprzak who performed the surgery.”

Last year, the Polish star tore his right meniscus during his second-round Wimbledon match against Arthur Fils. Hurkacz withdrew from this season's edition of the grass-court major.

At No. 39 in the PIF ATP Rankings, Hurkacz owns a 15-11 season record, according to the Infosys ATP Win/Loss Index. He reached the Geneva final in May, only falling to Novak Djokovic in a three-hour, five-minute final.

“I’m now starting my recovery and will only come back when I’m 110 per cent ready to compete again” Hurkacz added. “Thanks so much for all the support, it really means a lot to me and can’t wait to be back on court.

“Wishing everyone a successful Wimbledon! This year, I’ll be watching from the sofa.”
