
To celebrate the rich history of the Rolex Monte-Carlo Masters, Gael Monfils and Stan Wawrinka stepped back in time for a friendly competition with one big catch: For this 10-point tie-break, the stars of the modern game would be competing with racquets from decades past.
The players drew cards to determine which racquet they would wield, with each discussing how the feel of the racquet impacted their tactics in real time throughout the tie-break.
Would Wawrinka's iconic one-handed backhand still work with the older stick? How would Monfils' all-court game translate without the benefits of today's technology?
