Murray joins Draper's coaching team for grass swing

Jack Draper announced on Tuesday that he will work with ATP No. 1 Club member Andy Murray throughout the grass-court season.

Draper will no longer be working with former Murray coach Jamie Delgado, who has been coaching the lefty since last year.

“I am very grateful for everything Jamie Delgado has done for me over these past six months,” Draper said in a statement. “He is a world class coach and a great man.

“In the interim, I will continue to be supported by the excellent team at the LTA, with the addition of Andy Murray, who will be supporting me throughout the grass court season.”

Growing up, Draper idolised Murray, the only British player who has reached World No. 1 in the PIF ATP Rankings. Draper later became a friend and opponent for Murray during his latter years on the ATP Tour. Now, Murray will be in the 24-year-old’s corner during the grass season.

Draper owns a 5-4 record this season according to the Infosys ATP Win/Loss Index, including a win against Novak Djokovic in the fourth round at Indian Wells. He last compete in Barcelona and will not be playing in Hamburg or Roland Garros.

Murray is dipping his toe back in the coaching world after spending six months alongside fellow former World No. 1 Djokovic from November 2024 to May 2025. 

“I enjoyed certain parts of it,” Murray said last year on the Sporting Misadventures with Chris Hoy podcast of his experience as a coach. “I enjoyed the matches. I liked sitting at the side watching matches from a different perspective. I enjoyed the analysis, and preparing and planning, the strategy and everything. I really liked that, but I also found it very demanding."
