Defending Roland Garros champions Marcel Granollers and Horacio Zeballos returned to the title match in Paris on Friday, when they overcame Italians Simone Bolelli and Andrea Vavassori 7-6(4), 6-4.

Bolelli and Vavassori were chasing their second title of the clay-court swing after triumphing at the ATP Masters 1000 event in Rome last month. However, they could not find a way past the Spanish-Argentine team in a tight semi-final battle on Court Simonne-Mathieu.

The top seeds saved all three break points they faced and were ruthlessly efficient at the closing stages of each set to move to within one win of defending the title. Playing for their third major crown as a team and second in the French capital, Granollers and Zeballos will play Harri Heliovaara and Henry Patten in Saturday’s final.

"I think we played a really good match," Zeballos said. "It was a very tough match against one of the best teams in the world right now. We are so, so happy to be one more time in the final in such a beautiful tournament. Right now I feel blessed, and hopefully we can continue with this level tomorrow."
