Holger Rune has withdrawn from this month’s ATP 500 in Hamburg and Roland Garros, the Dane confirmed Monday on social media.

The former No. 4 player in the PIF ATP Rankings has been sidelined while recovering from an Achilles injury suffered in Stockholm last October. Although the 23-year-old had hoped to make his comeback in Hamburg, he has now decided to delay his return until the grass-court season begins in June.

“Tough decision, but the right one,” Rune wrote on Instagram Stories. “Thank you for your support and love throughout my rehab ♥️ see you on the grass.”

Rune reached the fourth round at Roland Garros last year before losing to Lorenzo Musetti, and he currently holds a 13-4 record at the Paris major, according to the Infosys ATP Win/Loss Index.

The Dane has not played competitively since retiring injured during his Stockholm semi-final against Ugo Humbert last September.
