Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz have reigned at the Grand Slam tournaments over the past two seasons, winning all seven of them. While Alcaraz has been incredibly consistent at the majors, lifting three trophies and making this year’s Wimbledon final, Sinner has been nearly untouchable.

The Italian has been significantly more dominant than his great rival at the Slams, even if Alcaraz has won two of their three Lexus ATP Head2Head meetings during the stretch.

No matter how deep you dig, Sinner has had the edge over Alcaraz at the majors during the past two years. The No. 1 player in the PIF ATP Rankings has earned a 45-3 record (93.8%) compared to Alcaraz, who has tallied a 38-4 mark (90.5%).

Sinner & Alcaraz at Slams (since 2024)

Player  Record  Sets Won %  Games Won %
 Jannik Sinner  45-3  86.3%  62.2%
 Carlos Alcaraz  38-4  76.3%  59.4%

Sinner has won more than Alcaraz at the Slams and done so in more convincing fashion.

Sinner has claimed 34 straight-sets victories (70.8%) at the majors since the start of 2024 compared to 19 straight-sets triumphs (45.2%) for Alcaraz. Although the Spaniard has won nearly as many matches as the World No. 1, he has had to labour to victory far more often.

The World No. 1 has gone 139-22 in sets (86.3%), while Alcaraz has gone 116-36. (76.3%). Sinner has needed a fifth set in just one of his victories at the majors (2024 Australian Open vs. Medvedev), while Alcaraz has required a decider to win five times.

In his three losses, Sinner has pushed his opponents — he lost twice to Alcaraz and once to former No. 1 Daniil Medvedev — to a fifth set on each occasion, while Alcaraz has not done so once in his four defeats. Beating Sinner at a Slam since the start of 2024 has taken a titanic effort.

It All Adds Up

The 24-year-old Sinner has also held the edge in games won percentage, claiming 62.2 per cent of his games to Alcaraz's 59.4. At the majors they have won, Sinner has won 63.3 per cent of his games compared to Alcaraz's 59.2 per cent.

Sinner has been especially dominant on hard courts, sweeping both Australian Open titles as well as last year's US Open. Alcaraz bowed out in the quarter-finals at both Australian Opens, while he suffered a shock defeat to Botic van de Zandschulp at Flushing Meadows last year.

Both men have been in control through two rounds at the US Open, winning all of their matches in straight sets. Sinner has lost just 11 total games against Vit Kopriva and 2024 Montreal champion Alexei Popyrin, and Alcaraz has dropped just 17 combined games to Reilly Opelka and Mattia Bellucci.

Are they on a collision course to face off in a third consecutive major final? Stay tuned over the rest of the fortnight to find out.
