Jannik Sinner and Novak Djokovic have withdrawn from next month’s National Bank Open presented by Rogers, the tournament announced on Friday.
The No. 1 player in the PIF ATP Rankings, Sinner earlier this month successfully defended his Wimbledon title, defeating Djokovic in the semi-finals. Former champion Alexander Zverev and home favourite Felix Auger-Aliassime headline the field at the Canadian ATP Masters 1000 event, which will be held from 2-13 August in Montreal.
“After carefully considering all the factors together with my team, we have made the difficult decision to withdraw from Montreal,” Sinner explained in a statement. “It is never easy to miss such an important event, but we believe this is the right decision to prioritise my health. I'm disappointed not to be there, but I look forward to returning to Montreal in the future."
The 2026 field includes Top 10 stars Alex de Minaur, Ben Shelton, Daniil Medvedev, Flavio Cobolli and Taylor Fritz. Shelton captured the biggest title of his career at this event last year, when it was staged in Toronto.
Sinner owns a 44-3 record this season with six titles, according to the Infosys ATP Win/Loss Index. Djokovic is 14-5.
