Jannik Sinner has withdrawn from the upcoming Rolex Shanghai Masters.
The No. 1 player in the PIF ATP Rankings has been out of action since he clinched the crown at Wimbledon in July. He subsequently missed the North American hard-court swing, including the US Open, and the ATP 500 in Beijing due to a knee injury.
Sinner won the Shanghai trophy in 2024, when he defeated Novak Djokovic in the final.
"Unfortunately I won't be able to play at the Rolex Shanghai Masters this year as I had hoped," Sinner wrote Saturday on Instagram Stories. "I always enjoy playing in front of the Shanghai fans and I'm very sorry that I won't be able to do so next week. Thank you for all your support. I'm looking forward to seeing you again next year!"
The Rolex Shanghai Masters will run from 7 to 18 October, with four-time champion Djokovic, Alexander Zverev, Carlos Alcaraz, Ben Shelton, Felix Auger-Aliassime, Daniil Medvedev, Flavio Cobolli and defending champion Valentin Vacherot among those in the field.
Sinner owns a 44-3 record in 2026, according to the Infosys ATP Win/Loss Index. The Italian claimed titles at ATP Masters 1000 events in Indian Wells, Miami, Monte-Carlo, Madrid and Rome to complete the Career Golden Masters, before winning his fifth major crown at Wimbledon.
