Play is suspended until Saturday in Jannik Sinner’s second-round match against Andrea Vavassori at the Miami Open presented by Itau due to rain.
In the all-Italian clash, third seed Sinner leads Vavassori 3-2, 40/40. The latter faced break point in the current game, but saved it with a series of backhand slices, ultimately leading to a Sinner error.
8:30 p.m. match update: All remaining men's matches have been cancelled for the night. Those matches are: Sinner-Vavassori, Medvedev-Fucsovics, Shapovalov-Tsitsipas, Murray-Etcheverry, Bublik-Arnaldi, Koepfer-Baez, Seyboth Wild-Fritz, O'Connell-Tiafoe, Jarry-Draper, Ruud-Van Assche, Shang-Davidovich, Paul-Damm, Norrie-Cobolli and Griekspoor-Michelsen.

The 22-year-old enjoyed a 16-0 start to the season, including his first major title at the Australian Open. He finally lost his perfect record in the Indian Wells semi-finals against Alcaraz and is looking to get back on track.
It has been a rain-filled day at Hard Rock Stadium, where the start of play was delayed by six hours due to the weather. Sinner and Vavassori are meeting for the first time in their Lexus ATP Head2Head series.
The only other time the Italians have stood across the net from one another was for a match warmup in 2019 at the Bergamo ATP Challenger Tour event, where Sinner claimed his first title at that level.
The 28-year-old Vavassori, a four-time ATP Tour doubles titlist, is making a charge to crack the Top 100 in the PIF ATP Rankings (singles) for the first time. He is World No. 148.
