Musetti’s Monte-Carlo missile is April’s Stella ATP Perfect Serve

With his hopes of reaching the championship match at the Rolex Monte-Carlo Masters hanging by a thread, Lorenzo Musetti leaned back and delivered April’s Stella ATP Perfect Serve.

The Italian was serving at 5-6, 30/30 in his semi-final against Alex de Minaur at the clay ATP Masters 1000. For a player not exactly known for his serving prowess, his ace down the T was a clutch moment of skilful precision that ultimately set Musetti on the path to a 1-6, 6-4, 7-6(4) triumph.

“If he loses that point, he’s down match point, but for him to come up with an ace in that moment, it’s truly terrific,” said Sam Querrey, co-host of the Nothing Major podcast and a big-serving former No. 11 in the PIF ATP Rankings himself, of Musetti’s ice-cool delivery. “He only had five aces in the entire tournament, and to get one at that moment is maybe the biggest serve he’s ever hit in his life.”

Musetti’s serve in Monte-Carlo is the inaugural winner of the Stella ATP Perfect Serve award, which each month gives fans the chance to vote for their favourite magical moments from the line.
