Can Dominic Thiem sign off in style at Roland Garros? The former No. 3 in the PIF ATP Rankings and two-time finalist will look to kick-start his final appearance at the clay-court major when he takes on Franco Agamenone in the first round of qualifying in Paris.

The 11th-seeded Thiem, who announced earlier this month that he will retire at the end of 2024, would face Dane Sweeny or Otto Virtanen in the second round if he defeats Agamenone. The 30-year-old Austrian holds a 28-10 record in main-draw matches in Paris and reached the championship match in 2018 and 2019. He is seeded to meet Giulio Zeppieri in the final qualifying round.

Another former Top 10 star set to make his last appearance at Roland Garros is Diego Schwartzman. The Argentine, who plans to retire on home soil in 2025, will play Austrian Lukas Neumayer in his opening qualifying match.

Top seed Cristian Garin, a potential third-round opponent for Schwartzman, begins against Frenchman Ugo Blanchet, while another home favourite Quentin Halys is also among the players that Schwartzman may have to defeat if he wants to secure an 11th consecutive main-draw appearance in Paris. The 31-year-old, a former World No. 8, reached the semi-finals in 2020 and the quarter-finals in 2018 and 2021.

Other home hopes in the qualifying draw include Lucas Pouille, Benoit Paire and Jules Marie. Former World No. 10 Pouille starts against 2023 Next Gen ATP Finals presented by PIF champion Hamad Medjedovic. The three-time ATP Tour champion Paire plays Jozef Kovalik, while Marie, the World No. 225 who has gone viral on YouTube with his videos about life on Tour, begins against fellow Frenchman Titouan Droguet.

A host of #NextGenATP stars will bid to secure their main-draw spot in Paris. Shang Juncheng, who qualified successfully in 2023, starts his campaign against Roman Andres Burruchaga, while Coleman Wong plays Patrick Kypson, Dino Prizmic meets Stefano Napolitano, and Henrique Rocha faces Radu Albot.

Qualifying at Roland Garros will take place from Monday, 20 May through Friday, 24 May. The main-draw action in Paris will run from Sunday, 26 May to Sunday, 9 June.
