The semi-final lineup for the 2026 US Open is set, with Alexander Zverev, Ben Shelton, Frances Tiafoe and Karen Khachanov all featuring in the last-four lineup on Friday at the hard-court major in New York.
Zverev — the No. 2 player in the PIF ATP Rankings, 2020 US Open finalist and top seed — will face Khachanov, who will be competing in his third major semi-final. Meanwhile the night session match will feature good friends Ben Shelton and Frances Tiafoe, with each man vying to become the first home men’s singles champion in New York since Andy Roddick in 2003.

Alexander Zverev, Ben Shelton, Frances Tiafoe and Karen Khachanov have all advanced to the US Open semi-finals. World No. 2 Zverev and No. 9 Shelton are inside the Top 10 of the PIF ATP Rankings, while No. 12 Tiafoe and No. 50 Khachanov are both former Top-10 players.
The US Open semi-finals will take place on Friday, 11 September, with both matches scheduled for Arthur Ashe Stadium. Alexander Zverev and Karen Khachanov will meet not before 3 p.m. local time (EDT), while Ben Shelton and Frances Tiafoe will take to court at 7 p.m.
Alexander Zverev has defeated Lorenzo Sonego, Quentin Halys, Alejandro Tabilo, Luciano Darderi and Botic van de Zandschulp so far at the US Open. Karen Khachanov has defeated Roman Andres Burruchaga, Felix Auger-Aliassime, Benjamin Bonzi, Learner Tien and Alexander Blockx (who retired when trailing by two sets and a break) so far. Ben Shelton has defeated Tallon Griekspoor, Hubert Hurkacz, Denis Shapovalov, Stefanos Tsitsipas and 2025 champion Carlos Alcaraz. Frances Tiafoe has defeated Martin Damm, Rei Sakamoto, Valentin Vacherot, Daniil Medvedev and Alex Michelsen en route to the last four.
Alexander Zverev leads Karen Khachanov 6-3 in their Lexus ATP Head2Head series, and has won four of the pair’s past five encounters. Zverev and Khachanov have only played once before at a major, with Zverev prevailing in five sets in the fourth round at 2018 Roland Garros. Zverev also defeated Khachanov in the gold medal match at the Tokyo Olympics in 2021.
Ben Shelton leads Frances Tiafoe 3-1 in their Lexus ATP Head2Head series. Two of the pair’s previous encounters have come at the US Open, with Shelton winning a four-set quarter-final in 2023 and Tiafoe prevailing in five sets in the 2024 third round. Shelton and Tiafoe have only ever faced off on home soil, with Shelton also defeating his countryman in the the 2024 Houston championship match and the 2025 Washington quarter-finals.
Alexander Zverev has won one major title. The German broke his Grand Slam duck in June at Roland Garros, where he defeated Flavio Cobolli to claim the trophy at the clay-court major. Zverev had previously reached Slam finals at the 2020 US Open, 2024 Roland Garros and the 2025 Australian Open.
Karen Khachanov is yet to win a major title. On Friday in New York, the 30-year-old will compete in his third semi-final at Grand Slam level, having also reached that stage at the 2022 US Open and the 2023 Australian Open.
Ben Shelton is yet to win a major title. The 23-year-old will be playing in his third Grand Slam semi-final when he takes on Tiafoe on Friday: Shelton also reached the last four at the 2023 US Open and the 2025 Australian Open.
Frances Tiafoe is yet to win a major title. The 28-year-old will be competing in his third Grand Slam semi-final when he meets Shelton, having also reached that stage at the US Open in 2022 and 2024.
