Luca Van Assche and Quentin Halys enjoyed a breakthrough weekend on the ATP Tour, with both Frenchmen excelling on the European clay to claim their first career titles.
Van Assche triumphed at the Millennium Estoril Open, and with his victory simultaneously secured his rise into the world’s Top 50 for the first time. Meanwhile Halys won the Generali Open in Kitzbühel to move to the brink of rejoining that elite group. ATPTour.com looks at the movers in the PIF ATP Rankings as of Monday, 27 July.
No. 48 Luca Van Assche, +30 (Career High)
A two-time Next Gen ATP Finals competitor and seven-time ATP Challenger champion, Van Assche pulled off a series of impressive wins at the Millennium Estoril Open to secure his ATP Tour title breakthrough. The 22-year-old’s title run in Portugal included an upset of top seed Andrey Rublev in the quarter-finals, and he then held off the fast-rising Alexander Blockx to clinch the trophy in an absorbing championship match. As a result, Van Assche has risen 30 spots to become a Top-50 player for the first time.
No. 32 Alexander Blockx, +6 (Career High)
Despite the defeat to Van Assche, Blockx has maintained his push up the PIF ATP Rankings after reaching his maiden tour-level final in Estoril. The 21-year-old Belgian ground out three deciding-set wins, including against second seed Luciano Darderi in the semi-finals, to bounce back quickly from consecutive defeats across Wimbledon and Umag. Blockx is up six spots to a career-high World No. 32 ahead of the North American hard-court swing.
No. 52 Quentin Halys, +31
Fourteen years after earning his first PIF ATP Rankings point as a 15-year-old, Halys completed an emotional journey to his first ATP Tour crown with a big-hitting run at the Generali Open. The 29-year-old did not drop a set all week in Kitzbühel, where he saved his best for last: Halys overwhelmed 2025 champion and top seed Alexander Bublik to clinch the trophy and rise 31 spots to World No 52, his highest ranking for 12 months.
No. 79 Jaime Faria, +9 (Career High)
There was plenty to cheer for home fans in Estoril, where both Jaime Faria and Tiago Torres reached the quarter-finals. Faria, enjoying the best season of his career, was unable to close out victory against second seed Darderi for a last-four spot, but the 22-year-old has nonetheless continued his push up the PIF ATP Rankings: Having started the year outside the Top 150, Faria has risen nine spots to a career-high No. 79.
No. 90 Hugo Gaston, +19
French lefty Gaston entered Estoril with just two tour-level wins for the 2026 season, but he secured his return to the Top 100 with a semi-final run on the Portuguese coast. The 25-year-old dispatched his countryman Titouan Droguet and home hope Torres in straight sets en route to the last four, where eventual champion Van Assche proved too strong.
