Lindsey Vonn pays tribute to Federer: 'Roger was the athlete I aspired to be'

Lindsey Vonn, a legendary athlete in her own right, paid tribute to Roger Federer on social media following the ATP No. 1 Club member’s induction into the International Tennis Hall of Fame.

“Congratulations @rogerfederer on being inducted into the @tennishallofame this weekend,” Vonn wrote on Instagram.

The skiing star, who took to the slopes with Federer in 2024, was in attendance at the induction ceremony in Newport after becoming friends with the Swiss throughout their careers.

Vonn, a longtime tennis fan who hit some balls on the Newport lawns over the weekend, shared glowing words about Federer and his enshrinement at the International Tennis Hall of Fame.

“There are many athletes that I admire, respect and look up to but Roger was the athlete I aspired to be,” Vonn wrote. “Classy, kind, fearless, a true competitor and always a true sportsman. It’s been a privilege to call him a friend over the years as well as Mirka and the whole family. I could not have imagined a better way to be inducted than through the eloquent words of his wife, Mirka.

“The night was emotional and showed what a family can do when they support each other. His legacy is far beyond tennis and will last forever. Congratulations to you Rog, your family and entire team.”
