Began playing tennis at age nine.
Enjoys to relax in his house by watching television with remote control
in hand and eating popcorn.
Favorite surface is greenset and considers forehand as best shot.
Attended Pepperdine University in 1990-91 and was No. 1 and 2 on the
team. Earned all-American singles honors both years as he finished No. 27 in
1990 and No. 19 the following year. Studied economics.
Turned pro in 1991.
Coached by Angel Gimenez.
Qualified in his first Grand Slam tournament at the U.S. Open in 1992,
only to lose a five-set match to Jeff Tarango in the first round.
