Won the 1987 National Indoor Championships and reached the semifinals at the Outdoor Championships in Czechoslovakia. He was runner-up in doubles (w/Vajda) at the Outdoor. A member of the winning Czech team in the 1984 Galea Cup along with Mecir, Vajda and Novacek. He was runner-up at the Florence junior event and quarterfinalist at the Orange Bowl in 1984. Coached by Lubo Kurhajec. He started playing the pro circuit in 1983 as an amateur. He earned a career-high $16,287 in 1987 and finished No. 86 on the ATP computer rankings after being No. 390 in 1986. Suffered back problems in 1987 which limited his playing time.
Co-owner of tennis courts and recreation center HS Centrum in Pieštany. Owns them with his long time friend, Peter Haban, who also used to play tennis. Peter lives in Pieštany, so he runs daily service, while Branislav focuses on events. … General director of Kosice Open Challenger tournament for the past eleven years. And most of the time, it is one man show. I have to get all the sponsorships, so it is almost like a second full-time job during the whole year. … Enjoys skiing and alpine skiing in his native Slovakia and fishing… Graduated from Comenius University faculty of physical education and sport in 1991… Coached Karol Kucera and Jan Krošlák and was Slovak Davis cup coach for 10 years. Has a lovely wife Dana, and two adult sons Tomas and Boris… One studies regional development in Czech Republic, the other one studies mass media communication. We are proud of them, but it’s a shame that they didn’t want to stick with tennis.
