Detroit native Veillette got a late start in tennis at the age of 13...Coming from a table tennis family, he competed nationally from age 8 to 12...His brother, Michael, was the US Open junior table tennis champion...A friend convinced Veillette to play tennis, and he immediately fell in love with what he considered to be a giant ping-pong table...His quick hands and spins from table tennis, along with pitching experience in baseball, translated into a winning combination as a tennis player...Veillette's first coach was his father, Sam. Later he was coached by Mark Reznich, Joe Phodell and Joe Shaheen, coach of former World No. 7 Aaron Krickstein...Veillette currently owns SoWal Tennis, coaching as a Florida Panhandle "Pro on the Go".
