    Member of the Australian Davis Cup team from 1983-present. Helped his
    country to the title in 1983, defeating Yannick Noah in the semifinals and
    Joakim Nystrom in the final.
    Recipient of the 1982 ATP Player Achievement Award, for sportsmanship
    and outstanding contribution to tennis.
    Grew up on his parents' 3,800-acre farm in Cockaleechie (population 1200
    in southern Australia. Did not play national competition until age 15.
    Earned a career-high $500,711 and compiled a 37-21 match record while
    finishing a career-best No. 25 on the ATP computer. It is the first time he
    ended the year in the top 50 since 1984 when he was No. 29. Defeated Ivan
    Lendl at Philadelphia and Stefan Edberg at the Tokyo Indoor en route to
    runner-up finishes (l. Mayotte and l. Becker, respectively).
    Surpassed the $1 million mark in career earnings at Philadelphia in Feb.
    1988.
    Completed the Grand Slam of doubles titles when he teamed with Anders
    Jarryd to capture the Wimbledon title in 1989. The duo captured three of the
    four in 1991 (except Aust. Open).
