    • Nickname is Juanpi.
    • Began playing tennis as a 5-year-oldat a club where his parents are members. Began as a hobby and later developed into hispassion.
    • Father, Pablo, is a mechanical engineer; mother, Milagros, works as an accountant at Peru's national centre for potato research. Has one brother and one sister, both younger.
    • Favourite shot is backhand, surface is clay and tournament is Roland Garros.
    • Role model is countryman and former World No. 33 Luis Horna.
    • Favourite city on tour is Lima, where he has played Challenger event each year since 2013.
    • If he could steal one shot from another player, it would be former World No. 5 Fernando Gonzalez's forehand.
    • Also enjoys football. Supports Peru's national team and Real Madrid.
    • Favourite food is Peruvian, specifically 'ceviche', a raw fish dish made with lemon.
    • A perfect day without tennis is spent on the beach near his home in Lima.
    • Best advice received: "Be faithful and true to yourself. Don't try to be someone you're not. And enjoy yourself on the court, so you enjoy your career."

    • Broke into Top 100 in August 2022 and achieved career-high No. 60in June 2023 after reaching Grand Slam-best 4R at Roland Garros (d. No. 14 Hurkacz, l. to Djokovic).
    • In February 2023, swept 10 straight sets to reach 1st ATP Tour SF at Buenos Aires as Q (l. to Norrie).
    • Joined Horna, Yzaga, Di Laura and Arraya as 5th Peruvian to break into Top 100 in Pepperstone ATP Rankings history (since 1973).
    • Also advanced to QFs at 2021 Santiago as Q and 2022 Gstaad as Q, defeating No. 19 Bautista Agut in Gstaad 2R for biggest win of career.
    • Boasts 117-81Challenger record (5-4 in finals), ending 2022 season with most recent title at Sao Leopoldo.
    • Squandered 2-set lead vs. Auger-Aliassime in Grand Slam main draw debut at 2022 Roland Garros as Q.
