    • Nickname is Jerry after the cartoon character. "Tom and Jerry has been around for a long time and I’d say that was my favourite show," says Shang. "I think my parents would like me to be as smart as the mouse Jerry."
    • Father, Yi, was a professional football player; mother, Na, was a world champion table tennis player.
    • Started playing tennis at age 5 because his parents thought tennis would suit him well.
    • Favourite shot is forehand, surface is clay and tournament is Roland Garros.
    • Idols growing up were Novak Djokovic, Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal.
    • Also enjoys golf and running.
    • Says that he would probably be a golfer if he wasn't a tennis player.

    • Started training abroad at age 13 and currently trains at IMG Academy in Bradenton, FL, USA.

    • Has put together his best results on ITF World Tennis Tour with 24-4 record (4-0 in finals) and 21-16 on ATP Challenger Tour with title at 2022 Lexington USA (d. Gomez).
