    • Parents both played recreationally and was introduced into the sport at a very young age. He would hit with his family at their community courts in Irvine, Calif.
    • Was coached primarily by his father, Khuong, until he was brought into the USTA player development program around age 10-11.
    • Mother, Huyen, is a school teacher; has one older sister, Justice.
    • Says winning the the Boys' 18s National Hard Courts at the age of 16 and 17 have been major stepping stones in his career.
    • Considers backhand as best shot and favorite surface is hard courts.
    • Favorite tournament is Indian Wells and played in qualifying draw earlier this year and lost in 1R to Garin 7-5 7-6(7)

    • Earned 1st ranking point at age 16 in May 2022 after advancing to Orange Park SF on ITF World Tennis Tour.
    • Received 2022 US Open WC at age 16 after saving 4 MPs vs. Godsick en route to 2022 USTA Boys' 18s National Championship. Lost in 1R at US Open to Kecmanovic in 4 sets.
    • In August 2023, won his second consecutive USTA Boys' 18s title by defeating No. 10 seed Trevor Svajda in final. Svajda is the younger brother of Zachary Svajda, who won the boys’ 18s singles title in 2019 and 2021 (no event was held in 2020). Prior to Svajda and Tien, the last player to win back-to-back 18s singles titles was Jack Sock in 2010-11.
    • Played a semester of college tennis at Univ. of Southern Californiabefore turning pro insummer of 2023.
    • He won his first professional singles title at a USTA Pro Circuit M15 event in his hometown of Irvine in June 2023.
    • Ranked a career-high No. 4 in junior world rankings in February 2023 after reaching Australian Open juniors final (l. to Blockx) and advanced to SF at Roland Garros juniors. Also QF at 2022 Wimbledon juniors.
