Became No. 1 African and reached 1st ATP Tour final at 2020 Adelaide, then achieved career-high No. 31 after reaching 1st Grand Slam QF at 2021 US Open.
Earned personal-best 30 victories in 2021, highlighted by biggest win of career over No. 3 Nadal in Washington 3R.
Defeated No. 4 Thiem en route to 2021 Dubai final, becoming 1st qualifier to advance past QF in 30-year tournament history.
Regularly played ITF Futures events in Egypt, Mozambique, Nigeria, South Africa and Zimbabwe before making ATP debut in 2017, earning 1st ATP win in 2018 and breaking into Top 100 in 2019.
