    • Started playing tennis at age 4 when introduced by his uncle.
    • Father, Gavin (a financial planner) and mother, Nicola, both played badminton for South African national team. Brother, Greg, is also a tennis player.
    • Grew up in South Africa and moved to Australia at age 10 to further develop his tennis: "My parents sacrified everything to help me with my tennis. They had their jobs, friends and family in South Africa and left everything so I can have the proper training in Australia. The first few years were tough. We rented a small house at the time. As my tennis started getting better and better and my dad got a better footing in the country, things worked out."
    • Idol growing up was Roger Federer.
    • Favourite surfaces are clay and hard.
    • Favourite tournament is Australian Open and shot is down-the-line backhand.
    • Hobbies include table tennis and playing video games (Fortnite).
    • If he wasn't a tennis player, he would have tried to play pro football.
    • Favourite sports teams are South African rugby club Sharks and national team Springboks.
    • Wears a Legionnaire's hat while competing for protection from the sun, due to sensitive skin. Says his mom had cancer on her neck when she was his age and he has the same skin as her. Has used the hat since he was eight years old.
    • Superstition is to never put tennis shoes on a table or surface: 'They always have to be on the floor. It just seems unlucky to me'.
    • If he could steal one shot from another player it would be Nick Kyrgios' serve.

    • Achieved career-high No. 116 after earning biggest win of career over No. 38 Humbert in 2020 Roland Garros 1R as LL.
    • Debuted on ATP Tour at 2017 Umag as WC and earned 1st win at 2019 Washington as Q (d. Jaziri).
    • As WC in doubles, advanced to 2017 Australian Open SF w/Whittington and 2020 Australian Open QF w/Duckworth.
    • Owns 73-71 Challenger record with titles at 2018 Launceston, 2019 Zhangjiagang and 2019 Traralgon.
    • Won 2015 Australian Open boys' doubles title w/Delaney and earned straight-set boys’ singles wins over future Top-25 ATP players de Minaur, Fritz, Shapovalov and A. Zverev.
