  • Played No. 1 singles for Yale from 1980-84. The No. 1 ranked player in Canada in 1984. Member of the Canadian Davis Cup team from 1981-83 and in 1986-87-88. Runner-up at the Canadian Nationals in 1984, semifinalist in 1982. Holds wins over Boris Becker ('84 Barcelona), Pat Cash ('87 Forest Hills T.O.C. and Alberto Mancini ('89 Stuttgart) during his career. Jumped from No. 142 to 100 on July 31, 1989 after reaching the quarter-finals at Stuttgart. He defeated claycourt specialists Eduardo Bengoechea, Alexander Volkov and No. 10-ranked Alberto Mancini before losing to Sergi Bruguera in the quarterfinals. He jumped from 142 to No. 100, the first time to rank in the top 100 since May 26, 1986 (at No. 86). Earned $33,098 and ranked No. 120 on the ATP computer in 1989, his best finish since 1985 when he was a year-end high No. 93.
