    • Nickname is Misch.
    • Began playing tennis at age 2 with father Alexander, a former ATP pro and now his coach. Mother, Irina, is also a former player and a tennis coach. Brother, Alexander, is 10 years younger and a fellow ATP player.
    • Family moved from Russia to Germany in 1991.
    • Admired his father, who according to players such as Alexander Volkov and Yevgeny Kafelnikov, "played like a cat on the court."
    • Dream opponents are Andre Agassi and Pete Sampras. Says he would play with a wooden racquet.
    • Speaks Russian, German and English.
    • Favourite surface is indoors and shot is serve-and-volley.
    • Likes fishing and NBA. Supports Miami Heat.
    • Also enjoysflying and has a pilot license.

    • Ended 2014 season at Roland Garros and returned in 2015 on ITF Futures Circuit after undergoing wrist surgery and suffering back, knee and rib injuries.

    • Achieved career-high No. 25 on 24 July 2017 soon after reaching Wimbledon 3R. Finished 2017 at year-end high No. 33 following 30-win campaign. Returned to Top 50 on 9 January 2017 for 1st time since 5 October 2009. Fell as low as No. 1,067 on 9 March 2015.
    • Captured 2018 Eastbourne championship, joining little brother Alexander as 1st siblings to win singles titles since Patrick McEnroe joined big brother John with 1995 Sydney title. Won doubles titles w/A. Zverev at 2017 Montpellier and 2019 Acapulco. A. Zverev also won 2017 Montpelliersingles title — 1st title sweep by brothers since Andy and Jamie Murray at 2011 Tokyo. Defeated A. Zverev in 2012 Dallas, USA Challenger Q2 and 2014 Houston Q1, but lost 1st tour-level meeting in 2018 Washington 3R.
    • Qualified for 10 tour-level events in 2016, most of any player since ATP Tour was established in 1990 (9 players qualified 9 times in single season). Also qualified en route to singles finals at 2010 Metz and 2017 Geneva.
    • Earned biggest win of career over No. 1 Murray to reach 1st Grand Slam QF at 2017 Australian Open. Together with A. Zverev, 1st brothers to reach 3R at same Grand Slam event since Byron and Wayne Black at 1998 Australian Open. Also advanced to 2017 US Open 4R.
    • Qualified at all 4 Grand Slam events during career, but missed 17 straight main draws from 2012 Wimbledon through 2016 Wimbledon, falling in qualifying 11 times. Qualified at 6 ATP Masters 1000 events, reaching QFs as Q at 2009 Rome and 2016 Shanghai.
