    • Began playing tennis at age 6 with his parents.
    • Fiancee, Clarita; daughters, Alfonsinaand Antonia; father, Gabriel; mother, Lucila; brother, Martin, is also an ATP player.
    • Considers baseline game and backhand as his strengths. Favourite surface is clay.
    • Enjoys surfing, playing football and asados (barbecues) with friends and family.
    • Received ATP ACES for Charity grant in 2017 for support of 2 foundations that work with Uruguayan children: Corazoncitos Foundation and Fundacion Tenis Uruguay.
    • Underwent right knee surgery inOctober 2011 and did not play from May 2011 to April 2013. Broke right foot in summer 2018.

    • Top Uruguayan in history achieved career-high No. 19 in 2016 and owns 6-4 record in ATP Tour singles finals (6-3 on clay).
    • Became 1st player to beat only lefties en route to an ATP Tour title at 2016 Rio de Janeiro, highlighted by SF win over Nadal.
    • Advanced to 1st ATP Masters 1000 SF at 2017 Madrid and won ATP Masters 1000 doubles titles at 2015 Rome w/Marrero and 2017 Monte Carlo w/Bopanna.
    • Captured 2008 Roland Garros doubles title w/Horna in tour-level team debut, becoming 1st South American team to win a Grand Slam in Open Era.
    • Underwent right knee surgery in 2011, did not play for 2 years and was unranked for 10+ months.
