Turned pro in fall 1995 after an outstanding junior career. Finished as the No. 10 ranked junior singles player in the world and No. 8 in doubles in '95. Reached the semifinals at the Wimbledon juniors and quarterfinals at the U.S. Open juniors. Also a doubles finalist at Wimbledon, all in '95. Made his ATP Tour debut in February 1995 in Mexico City, defeating Her- nan Gumy in the first round before losing in the second. Also qualified in Los Angeles, losing to Jim Courier in the first round. Made his Davis Cup debut in 1994 and defeated Alexander Tabares in a dead rubber.
