    • Began playing tennis at age 4. Parents were playing tennisin a club and he went with them and started hitting againstthe wall.
    • Nickname “Bemel”.
    • Father, Marcel, works for the city of Maasmechelen andwas a high-level volleyball player; mother, Linda, works for an insurancecompany and was a good badminton player. Sister, Hanne, teaches kids with special needs.
    • Speaks French, Dutch and English.

    • Idols growing up were Andre Agassi and Lleyton Hewitt.
    • Enjoys playing golf, spending time with his family and friends.

Peaked at No. 16 in junior rankings on Dec. 18, 2006.
    • Milestones: Advanced to 1st ATP World Tour singles QF at 2013 Vienna as Q(d. Kohlschreiber 76 in 3rd, l. to Rosol) and 2nd QF at 2016 Montpellier (l. to Brown). Captured 1st ATPdoubles title at 2012 Los Angeles with countryman Malisse (d.Delgado/K. Skupski). Also owns 5Challenger and 12Futuressingles titles, most recently reigning at 2017 Koblenz, GER Challenger (d. Langer).Owns 100+ singles wins on ATP Challenger Tour (191-141)and ITF Futures Circuit (117-40).Earned 1st tour-level win in 2008 Davis Cup tievs. CZE (d. Vizner).     • Davis Cup: Helped Belgiumto 1st Davis Cup final since 1904 with doubleswins in 2014 Play-off w/O. Rochus (d. Bubka/Stakhovsky), 20151R w/Desein (d. Bossel/Lammer) and 2015 QF w/Coppejans(d. Nestor/Shamasdin). Fell in 2015 SF w/Darcis, but BEL wenton to 3-2 win over ARG (l. to Berlocq/L. Mayer). In final, lostto No. 2 Murray in singles (GBR d. BEL 3-1).
