    Made Davis Cup debut for his native country in 1989 at the age of 17
    and won three of six singles matches. Has a 15-16 career Cup record.
    Enjoyed his best career season in 1995, finishing a year-end high No.
    100 and earning a personal-best $152,948. Became the first Hungarian to
    finish in the Top 100 since Balaza Taroczy in 1984.
    Reached his first career ATP Tour semifinal in Bucharest (as qualifier)
    in 1995 and beat No. 5 seed Albero Costa and No. 3 Sergi Bruguera before los-
    ing to eventual winner Thomas Muster. Afterwards, jumped from 143 into the
    Top 100 for the first time at No. 95 on Sept. 18.
    Helped his country to a 3-2 Davis Cup win over Australia in a '95 play-
    off tie, which put Hungary into the '96 World Group.
