1992- Winner in singles, third in doubles at German Sat. #2 (w/37 ATP pts.);
Third at German Sat. #3 (w/20 ATP pts.).
1991- Seventh in doubles at German Sat. #2 (w/18 ATP pts.).
1990- Fifth in doubles at German Sat. #2 (w/19 ATP pts.).
1988- Second in doubles at N. African Sat. (w/23 ATP pts. w/Outaleb).
Turned pro in 1989 after completing his Arbitur (high school degree) and
serving 15 months in the German Army.
Enjoys horses and horse racing (trotters). He owns a 50 percent of a
trotter with one of the trainers from the track in Gelsen Kirchen--name of
the horse is "Syndikat Diamond" (diamond was the horse's father's name).
Participated in a celebrity race last year which raised funds for Unicef
He drove the trotter. When at home, he trains the horses as least once a
week. He also gives tennis lessons to trainers at the track in Gelsen Kirchen
One brother, Johannes, age 28 and one sister, Martina, age 33. Father,
Hans Jurg, and mother, Margaret.
Qualified for his first tour stop in Gstaad in July 1992 and defeated
Andrei Medvedev in the first round.
Speaks German, English and Dutch. He played a lot of tennis in Holland
when he was younger.
