Parents are Maureen Op de Weegh and Paul De Jong.
Began playing tennis aged four.
His mother worked at a fitness centre with squash courts. Jesper took a racquet and spent days hitting against the wall and later began taking lessons.
Tennis idol is Roger Federer and non-tennis idol is Lionel Messi.
Favourite shot is his drop shot, surface is clay, tournament is Roland Garros and city on Tour is Melbourne.
Qualified for his first Grand Slam main draw at the 2024 Australian Open, where he defeated Pedro Cachin in the first round and lost to eventual champion Jannik Sinner in the second round.
Qualified for second Grand Slam main draw at the next major, 2024 Roland Garros, where he defeated Jack Draper in the first round.
Credits all of his coaches for their role in making him the player he is today. “I had like six, seven coaches and every coach has basically their own part of the success,” he said.
Guilty pleasure is Macarons from Ladurée.
A dream for after his career is to own an Italian restaurant.
Favourite food is a good steak.

Broke into Top 500 in 2019, Top 200 in 2022 and Top 100 in March 2025, earning career-high No. 79 in July 2025 after advancing to 1st ATP Tour final at Bastad .
Defeated countryman Griekspoor en route to 1st ATP Tour SF at 2025 Montpellier and final at 2025 Bastad and defeated No. 26 Davidovich Fokina to reach 1st ATP Masters 1000 3R at 2025 Rome as LL.
Made ATP Tour debut at 2022 ‘s-Hertogenbosch as WC and earned 1st tour-level win at 2024 Australian Open over Cachin as Q in his Grand Slam main draw debut.
Went 9-2 in Grand Slam qualifying in 2024, entering draw as Q at both Australian Open and Roland Garros (d. No. 39 Draper in 1R) and losing to eventual champions Sinner and Alcaraz in 2R.
