Carlos Alcaraz will partner Serena Williams at the US Open mixed doubles tournament, the USTA announced on Saturday. One of the most star-studded pairings of the event, Alcaraz and Williams are one of three final wild card entires into the mixed doubles draw.
Alcaraz announced this past week that he will return to singles action at the US Open, marking his first appearance since suffering a right wrist injury in April. Part of his return will be a highly anticipated partnership with 23-time major singles champion Williams. The American WTA star retired in 2022, but this season returned to singles action at Wimbledon, while also competing in three doubles tournaments in the past two months.
Tommy Paul and Emma Navarro also received a wild card, as did Jakub Mensik and Karolina Muchova. The USTA also announced that Taylor Fritz will team with Jessica Pegula, following withdrawals of their respective teammates. Andrey Rublev and Mirra Andreeva will contest in the qualifying draw as wild cards. Christian Harrison and Peyton Stearns also received a qualifying wild card.
The mixed doubles main-draw action at Flushing Meadows will take place on Tuesday, 25 August and Wednesday, 26 August.
