Who will win the Wimbledon final between World No. 1 Jannik Sinner and two-time defending champion Carlos Alcaraz?
Novak Djokovic, who fell to Sinner in straight sets on Friday in the semi-finals, weighed in upon request from the media in the aftermath of his defeat.
“I think I will give a slight edge to Carlos as a favourite because of the two titles he's won here and the way he's playing and the confidence he has right now,” Djokovic said. “But it's just a slight advantage 'cause Jannik is hitting the ball extremely well.”
The seven-time Wimbledon champion knows both finalists extremely well. Djokovic fell to Alcaraz in the past two championship clashes at The Championships, and Sinner got the best of the Serbian in each of the past two majors.
Sinner earned three championship points last month in the Roland Garros final, but Alcaraz was able to persevere to claim the Coupe des Mousquetaires. They did not have to wait long for a rematch, and Djokovic expects another thrilling battle at SW19.
“I think it's going to be, again, a very close matchup like we had in Paris,” Djokovic concluded.
