Rafael Jodar has joined Team Europe’s lineup for the 2027 Laver Cup, with the 19-year-old Spaniard added to an elite roster of stars that includes Carlos Alcaraz, Alexander Zverev, Flavio Cobolli, and Jakub Mensik.
"The Laver Cup is unlike anything else in tennis and I can't wait to be part of Team Europe," said Jodar. "Growing up, you watch players like these and dream of one day sharing a team with them. To have that opportunity is incredibly special. I’ll do everything I can to contribute and help Team Europe bring the Cup back."
Jodar’s addition to Team Europe comes in the midst of his breakout 2026 season. Jodar entered the Top 100 of the PIF ATP Rankings for the first time in March and secured his first ATP title when he claimed the Grand Prix Hassan II in Morocco in April.
The former University of Virginia standout followed up his title with an impressive showing in Madrid, where he reached a maiden Masters 1000 quarter-final on home soil. Jodar then put together a career-best run at a Major by reaching the quarter-finals at Roland Garros, where he lost to eventual champion Zverev.
“Rafael has had an outstanding season and has earned this opportunity,” said Team Europe Captain Yannick Noah. “He’s one of the brightest young talents in our sport and has shown he belongs on the biggest stages. What I like most is the way he competes. He’ll bring energy, belief, and a real hunger to Team Europe, and I’m excited to welcome him into the group.”
The three-day Laver Cup will take place from 25 to 27 September at The O2 in London as Team World looks to defend its title from the 2025 event in San Francisco. Jodar and Team Europe will be up against a stacked Team World squad coached by Andre Agassi and featuring Alex de Minaur, Ben Shelton, Taylor Fritz, Alexander Bublik, Learner Tien, and Tommy Paul.
Captain Yannick Noah still has one final spot to name to his six-man Team Europe.
