Lorenzo Musetti will not compete at 2026 Wimbledon while he continues his rehabilitation of a thigh injury, the Italian announced on Wednesday on Instagram.
The former No. 5 player in the PIF ATP Rankings has not competed since he fell to Casper Ruud in the fourth round of the Internazionali BNL d'Italia in Rome in mid-May. Having already missed Roland Garros due to the rectus femoris injury, Musetti spoke of his disappointment at also missing Wimbledon, but the 24-year-old was positive about how his recovery was going.
“I want to update you on my recovery from the injury I sustained in Rome: rehabilitation is going very well and the medical results are encouraging,” Musetti wrote. “Unfortunately, as I have not yet been able to begin a full athletic training program, and after careful evaluation, we have come to the difficult conclusion that I will not be able to participate in Wimbledon this year.
“It is not an easy decision, but it is the right one. My priority is to return to the court at 100%. Thank you for your continued support — see you soon.”
A two-time ATP Tour champion, Musetti was a semi-finalist at Wimbledon in 2024. The Italian is 13-7 for the 2026 season, according to the Infosys ATP Win/Loss Index, a tally which includes a championship-match run in Hong Kong and a quarter-final appearance at the Australian Open.
