Marcel Granollers and Horacio Zeballos successfully defended their Roland Garros title on Saturday in Paris, where they dispatched second seeds Harri Heliovaara and Henry Patten 6-4, 6-2 on Court Philippe-Chatrier.
The top seeds dominated throughout the 77-minute final to become the fifth men’s doubles team to win the trophy in Paris in back-to-back years, while they are also the first top seeds to clinch the crown at the clay-court major since Bob Bryan and Mike Bryan in 2013.
Granollers and Zeballos first teamed in 2019 but had not won a major together until last year in Paris. The Spanish-Argentine pair has now won three of the past five Slams, having also triumphed at the US Open in September 2025.
"Thank you to my partner for fighting with me," Granollers said to Zeballos during the trophy ceremony. "We have had seven years together. We've had good moments, bad moments, but here we are with one more Roland Garros [trophy]. We are very happy."
In an impressive final display, Granollers and Zeballos made 83 per cent of their first serves, compared to just 52 per cent from their opponents, allowing them to gain the first strike in the majority of the exchanges. The top seeds found many stunning angles on return and were aggressive at the net to break Heliovaara and Patten's serve five times.
After their victory, Granollers and Zeballos lifted their arms aloft before embracing. They did not drop a set en route to the title.
"This is part of a long journey together and a beautiful time we are spending," Zeballos said. "Not only playing tournaments but every day, going to practice and being with each other. All our team is amazing and hopefully we stick together for a long time. I am 41 years old and this is one of the best moments in my career, so it is never too late."
Despite defeat in their first Roland Garros final, Heliovaara and Patten will both rise to No. 1 in the PIF ATP Doubles Rankings for the first time on Monday. Heliovaara will be the second Finnish man to become World No. 1 in doubles, joining Henri Kontinen.
Patten’s ascent to No. 1 also represents a significant moment for British tennis. He becomes just the fifth British man to reach the summit of the PIF ATP Doubles Rankings, following Jamie Murray, Joe Salisbury, Neal Skupski and Lloyd Glasspool.
"I want to congratulate Harri and Henry, not only because of this final but also because on Monday you become No. 1 in the World," Granollers said during the trophy ceremony. "I really think you deserve to be No. 1 and know you have been fighting for this for a long time and now is your time."
Heliovaara and Patten were seeking their third major trophy as a team, having won at Wimbledon in 2024 and at the Australian Open in 2025.
"Congratulations on your second Roland Garros trophy in a row," Patten said to Granollers and Zeballos. "It is very impressive and congratulations to your whole team, you deserve it.
"Harri, thanks for being my partner. We are going to bounce back stronger. We know that and it is always a pleasure playing with you no matter what, so thank you."
