No matter who wins the Wimbledon final between Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz, there will be a big swing in the battle for the No. 1 PIF ATP Ranking.

Entering the match, Sinner has 11,330 points in the PIF ATP Live Rankings and Alcaraz has 8,600, giving the Italian a 2,730-point advantage. But that will change very quickly one way or the other following Sunday's championship blockbuster.

If Sinner lifts his first Wimbledon trophy, he will leave the grass-court major with a 3,430-point lead. If Alcaraz claims his third consecutive title at the tournament, he will claw to within 2,030 points. There will be a 1,400-point swing based on the match.

PIF ATP Live Rankings (entering Wimbledon final)

If...  Jannik Sinner Pts  Carlos Alcaraz Pts  Deficit
 Sinner wins  12,030  8,600  3,430
 Alcaraz wins  11,330  9,300  2,030

Entering the tournament, Sinner only led Alcaraz by 1,130 points. But because Alcaraz claimed the crown last year (2,000 points) and Sinner lost in the quarter-finals (400 points), the World No. 1 had an opportunity to extend his lead.

However, no matter who emerges victorious on Centre Court, the deficit between Sinner and Alcaraz will not be as big as it seems.

From the end of Wimbledon through the US Open, Sinner will defend 3,200 points, because last year he triumphed in New York, Cincinnati and advanced to the quarter-finals in Canada. During the same stretch, Alcaraz will only defend 60 points.

Even if Alcaraz loses the Wimbledon final and falls behind his rival by 3,430 points, he will have a chance to move far closer in the next two months, during which he will drop 3,140 fewer points.

It All Adds Up

For now, both men will be fully focused on capturing another Grand Slam trophy on Sunday. Will Alcaraz extend his 8-4 lead in the pair's Lexus ATP Head2Head series or will Sinner earn revenge after his near miss against the Spaniard at Roland Garros?
